Great artilcle! If it's fairly big garden waste, you can mow it to help the process. Worms also help, and so does a bit of aeration - turn it over with a garden fork every once in a while. On the BBC Gardener's World website there's a lot of articles on composting and leaf mould. Enjoy!

Very useful article, my grandmother composted everything, she recycled and wasted nothing, everything had it's purpose! I am surrounded by horses and often get free fertilizer for my gardens!

composting is easier than most think, and so much better than putting trash into plastic bags to be added into a garbage dump and wasted.

I am an old hippie an have been composting for over 30 years I also have worm bins Mother Nature makes the best fertilizer best of all it is free just takes a little an i mean a little work. =^..^=
