To exploit any species purely for profit regardless of the pain & suffering caused is unconscionable! I will be boycotting the History station until they cancel this show and show some compassion. I am outraged that another TV show leaning profiting from the horrific suffering of an animal is being touted as entertainment.

There is no need to use hooks to tag sharks. Real scientists have been tagging sharks for years without torturing these incredible endangered species. The awful big game fishermen in this show attached the tag with a DRILL to the dorsal fin and then performed surgery on the shark as the exhausted fish got weaker and weaker. This is a torture show disguised as science for a thrill-seeking audience. I am so disgusted. CANCEL THIS SHOW!!!!!! Shame on you History Channel.

I am SO angry right now. I just watched an episode of shark wranglers. There is no need to catch great whites with these giant painful hooks in order to tag them. These guys are only in this for big game fishing and thrill-seeking. There is absolutely NO conservation plan in place, yet the show claims to be protecting sharks?? HOW? By drilling holes in their fins? By cutting into them? By hooking them and causing injuries to their mouths? They attach huge buoy's to the fish in order to exhaust them, and then they keep them out of the water for 15 minutes while they torture them on the boat. I am absolutely disgusted with the History Channel.

Even if you do know what the sharks do, how the hell is that changing anything? I understand that everyone has a right to their opinion. But I also understand that in a world where social media allows information to be passed around in an instant and become viral over the internet, there rarely is any fact-checking that occurs before someone begins a petition against a cause, such as what you have done here with your protest against Shark Wranglers. My first question to you is, are you a marine biologist? Did you go to school for 4+ years to earn a bachelors, masters, or even a Ph.D. on the subject? Have you personally conducted field research dealing with sharks or have you read any peer-reviewed articles about tagging involving sharks? I have recently earned a bachelor's degree in marine biology. I do not claim to be an expert in the field, but I have worked with several world-renown scientists in the field over the course of earning my degree. Satellite tagging is the basis of many field studies involving large marine species as it is the only way to effectively track migratory patterns, mating grounds, and feeding grounds of these animals. Permits have to be obtained by research teams through local government authorities in order to conduct this type of research. Therefore, with this knowledge in mind, please explain to me where you have obtained your information from. Have you personally witnessed the OCEARCH team conduct their research in South Africa? Did you contact the local authorities to find out if they were breaking laws? Since your primary concern is about the safety of both the sharks and the human scientists conducting the research, have you analyzed their methods over and over again to come to your conclusion that both parties are in danger? Let me remind you: THERE IS ALWAYS A RISK INVOLVED WHEN WORKING WITH AN ANIMAL, AND THIS RISK GOES BOTH DIRECTIONS! This risk, however, is worth it when you are obtaining valuable information that can save an entire fish species. The reason why great white sharks are endangered is because the human race does not know much about them. And what we do know about them has been disillusioned by films such as JAWS (great story), which has created a general public fear of sharks, leading us to kill thousands each year (not only great whites, but several other species) while only a handful of people are attacked/killed by them around the world in the same time frame. I am not trying to change your opinion about the show on the History Channel. All I am trying to do is encourage you to check your information next time before posting a petition like this. Misinforming the public further about sharks and the research being conducted involving them will only cause more harm than good. Thank you for your time.

Are you all serious? You think these guys are intentionally harming these sharks? The information is invaluable for understanding the movements of the big breeding sharks so we can keep the scum bag "finners" from killing them off! The information obtained is far more valuable than the life of one SICK shark! Not only do they kill the sharks, but on two different occasions in waters they were dumping mass amounts of chum in HUMANS have been attacked! One in Massachusetts, he was fortunate and survived, the other one in South Africa was not so lucky and died. They are a danger to humans and sharks and should be stopped.
