I do not live in the US and I am always a little reticent about asking Government to do something when I will not be paying the tax to support having said that I think that this is such a win/win programme that I have done so.
Firstly for the veterans. These are young people who have been injured carrying out the policies of the democratically elected government of their country. Some people may not agree with what they are doing, this is a matter for the politicians, the Service person is doing his duty and supporting his country and deserves every support possible in return, not least if they are injued in the line of duty.
In the case of the inmates. Giving people who have offended society and chance to do something for it can never be a bad thing. In an ideal world sending someone to prison would teach them a lesson, while they are there they would be taught new skills and would leave prison and start afresh. Sadly this isn't always the case but engaging them in such a worthwhile exercise can only be a step in the direction of helping them reform themselves and turn their lvies around, it also keeps them gainfully employed.

Prisoners generally have a great love for animals, especially dogs as they are in desperate need of companionship and inherently realize that dog is indeed mans best friend. I just hope that this attempt to both rehabilitate the prisoner and the good the dogs do, is highly supervised for the protection of the animals involved!
