Perhaps the only good thing we can take out of the long incarceration and murder of Lennox, the black terrier-mix mutt whose only crime was to resemble a bit bull in Northern Ireland where the breed is banned, is that his plight inspired thousands

I've run out of words to comment on an Irish law of pure racism animal's, the long incarceration and Lennox's murder, the great hypocrisy of the Council Court of Belfast, the Irish political liars worse than Italian
Lennox you will live forever in the memories of those who loved you so much.
thank you so much Cher

I'm convinced that lennox died a long time ago. Way before the courts said to. thats why they wouldn't let ANYBODY even see him, or give the family any ashes.

As stated and is KNOWN by KNOWLEDGABLE and TRUE Animal Specialist, the comment made: "Aggressive behavior has been shown to be more of a problem with inadequate care rather than a dog’s breed" should go to show you that Lennox who had been held in a cage, abused, mistreated, and neglected still did not act out on aggression even tho we know that such surroundings contribute to a pup becoming aggressive. Lennox's hair was falling out (lack of nutrition), he had a hurt paw and an injured neck. How did that happen unless he was being abused already. I believe that they killed the dog by abusing it and that Lennox NEVER was put down humanly. They were mad that their decision was challenged and Lennox paid the price. If the problem was that they did not allow pitbulls in Ireland....then why was there a problem with relocating him to another country? Why did you have to choose to murder him and take his life? All of this is so so wrong and they think that after killing this dog that we will all eventually go away....but you have started a war that will never go away until you get educated enough to realize that there are NO BAD BREED OF DOGS, only ignorant and unknowledgable owners. The BCC falls in line with the ignorant, unknowledgable and stupid. THIS IS NOT OVER - IT IS JUST BEGINNING!

If the people of Ireland are really incensed, they can vote those on the city council out of office. I would love to see all of them have to find new jobs, preferably far away from any animals.

How evil. This beautiful animal, sweet as sweet can be, they didn't hear the call of all of us, they are horrendous. The family and girl must be just heartbroken. Lennox you will be in our hearts.

I can't even fathom the depth of this family's grief and desperation, or that poor, beautiful, innocent dog's despair. Nor can I grasp the extent of such a malicious act of needless cruelty so unimaginably heartless as to render it totally incomprehensible.
Not only did the BCC not have the decency to return Lennox - who had done nothing wrong and had never hurt a living soul - to his traumatized family, and just admit that they had made a mistake (they did, after all, renew his license and registration), they did not even at least have the compassion to release him into the arms of those here in the US that wanted him and would have loved him unconditionally.
And to refuse any visitation to a lonely, frightened family pet alone in a cold concrete cell, or a final good-bye, or even the return of his body for burial or his collar to the disabled little girl who loved him, points to an indescribable bankruptcy of spirit and atrocity of deed. It also begs the question of whether this beautiful dog was even still alive: The petty and vindictive actions of BCC throughout this tragedy have been suspect from the outset.
For Lennox and the Barnes family, I send my unending love and prayers for what you have all suffered. I am truly heartbroken over this. Dearest Lennox, know always how much you were loved – and always will be. You have earned your wings, precious one – soar with angels and know you will be with your family again one day.
For the BCC – you should hang your heads in shame. I don't know how you sleep at night. Common decency, and the law, prevents the kind of justice many, through tears and outrage, may wish upon you. I do not in any way condone any threats of violence; I do, however, understand them.
But - for allowing your ego and spite to destroy an innocent soul and his family, may Karma rain down upon you and yours with a ferocity so severe as to be as equally unimaginable as your utterly depraved indifference to all that is humane.
May God forgive you. I, alas, cannot.
And we will not forget.

Dusty and Nancy said it the best. And now I offer my words. God will NEVER FORGIVE THEM; the DIRTY BASTARDS as well as the B- - T -H that killed him. I feel so incredibly sorry for Len's family and the little girl. My heart aches, breaks, and feels like it's being squeezed in the middle. What goes around comes around sooner or later and I pray that the BCC gets hit from ALL DIRECTIONS WORLDWIDE OVER LEN'S MURDER. I CANNOT BELIEVE that LEN is gone. God Bless the Barnes Family. Lennox, I'll forever see your cute, sweet, face staring up, seemingly at me; thank you for being you, love you, from Barb, across the sea.

there are so many heartfelt comments here. My heart is broken also. I've signed several petitions boycotting Ireland and demanding those involved in the decision be fired from their jobs. The City of Belfast has a complaint email line, and I've sent in 4 complaints on what has happened and demanded the City Council resign. I tend to agree with John O in that they probably euthanized Lennox a while ago since no one has been able to see the dog in a while. Since renown dog trainers have stepped up to the plate offering their services, the City Council was really between a rock and a hard place. The truth will eventually come out if we never forget. God Bless Lennox and all the animals in the world and those that love, care and is willing to fight for them. Many curses on the Belfast City Council and those involved in euthanizing the dog. I've already convinced one couple not to visit Ireland this fall. When they heard this story about Lennox, they didn't want to give their money to a country that would allow this. I will always associate Ireland with Lennox now.

The- murder of Lennox is an act of pure- spite in retaliation to the bad publicity the Belfast council has recieved in thousands of signed petitions and offers of homes for him ,pride and ego by one or more individuals not backing down and admitting they were wrong has led to he death of this much loved family dog -who was- murdered to prove a point, all they have done is bring shame and notorioty to the town and people of Belfast - all I do for animals will be in memory of Lennox -his murder will never be forgotten -neither will the council of Belfast -sack them.

I just hope the people responsible pay for this by losing the next election or by community outrage, e.g., people should stop speaking to them, ostracize them for what they did.

I agree with comments by "Dusty Debandi."
Yes I believe that Lennox was killed quite some time ago and not humanely.I fractured leg ,neck injury, severe malnourishment etc don't just occur he was severly abused by BCC over a prolonged interval of time.
These Lennox murdering dropkicks bastards will pay bigtime and it will occur when they least expect it.KARMA!!!!

I will not sign up for the site because it looks to spammy. I hate to see that when so many of us love Lennox.
Other than that I flagged the spam we are used to & that care2 doesn't seem to control.
I love Lennox & his family we should not have to put up with spam for a beloved dog we want to honor..

I was doing a little reading on the BCC website and came across this info on the Dangerous Dogs Act. There is an animal welfare act of 2006 which I am pretty sure that BCC treatment of Lennox would show that they broke this act. Here is the link:

I cried many tears over Lennox and his fate,i agree with everyone here that BCC overstepped on this and tortured not only Lennox but his family as well. They should apologise, although that is not going to bring Lennox back, but perhaps someone somewhere should in his honour create LENNOXS LAW a law that would protect INNOCENT dogs against being wrongly accused of BSL.If just one dog was saved......... We all loved and fought for Lennox let his passing not be in vain,as we all know BSL= BULLSHIT LEGISLATION, someone very smart once wrote that and i agree wholeheartedly.Lennox will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.

I made several comments on Lennox to save his life without success. But again I feel I must add a comment. This time not about Lennox, he was murdered by the BCC, but about little Brooke. She had a beautiful puppy, it was taken away from her. He was her only friend apart from her family and thousands of supporters who tried so hard to save Lennox, poor girl. The BCC should compensate her by giving her a new puppy of exactly the same breed and make sure to help her paying for puppy school and training of her favourite dog. So have a heart and put things right. Brooke, if the council will ever have a heart and actually give you a new puppy, I know it is not the same, but do call him Lennox, it may heal your loss in time. Have faith in your supporters, we will continue to fight for you. Belfast CC, this shit is not over it is only the beginning, Brooke we are all behind you and get well.
