Shame on United Airlines for putting this man and his dog through such hell. Zero compassion or understanding. Shame.

what a total lack of empathy, sympathy and respect.
No wonder the airlines hold no regard with most of us.

I could only watch 3/4 of this, then I had enough. This man has a right to sue, and I hope he follows through.
Airline employees, French waiters, and most college professors, are the most arrogant SOB's I have ever come across.

This is a sad chain of events, but sadly these acts are not uncommon. Just a few months ago a soldier returning from Iraq who thought his dog would be safe on the plane home was sadly mistaken..When his dog was brought to him the dog was sick and some how his hind leg was injured. It turns out the airline "mishandled the dog".. That was reasoning behind his dogs injuries. :*(

Being startled by the presence of a dog does not excuse the kicking assault by two different employees! Service Dogs perform a service to humans that no other human can fulfill. I'd support a law that makes it as serious a crime for a human to assault a Service Dog as it is for a human to assault another human.

This should never happen to anyone. I wish I had been there; the fur would have flown on his behalf. As both a dog owner, a therapy/emotional support dog owner and as a vet, I am appalled that UAL would do this to a fellow vet and one who is disabled as well.

That's the way a lot of employees of businesses conduct themselves these days, except for when the big boss is around, its (called selfishness and greed!) I should know because I'm studying business as one of my majors, and carefully have been observing the changes in customer service in many American businesses as they have been declining from good to bad over several years!

You have got to be kidding me?

How about a mandatory class on Service Animals for ALL airline employees?

There is no excuse for behavior such as this and to add insult to injury this is a service person suffering from PTS. I say ship the US employees to Iraq for a few days and see how quickly they change their tune.

Charges must be filled and all airlines had better take note,

I don't understand why Jim didn't go off the first time Sarge was kicked! That's what shocked me! And then she was kicked a SECOND time by a UAL staffer and STILL he did nothing! Why not? Why didn't he stand up for his BELOVED DOG? I would have RUN THEM OVER IN MY WHEELCHAIR!! Thnx for posting CherTiger!! xxx

need a petition or something for this. no animals should ever be abused, but service animals especially.
i usually call people "scum" but that isn't a strong enough word, and the one that comes to mind would offend.

Aren't there video cameras all over airports? There must be one focused on the ticket counter. Anyone who abused the dog or called a customer retarded needs to be fired ASAP.

Damn good thing I wasn't there because I'd be in jail. I am so sorry, Jim, for the treatment you, as a veteran, received at the hands of these ingrate THINGS. I am sorry Sarge was abused at the hands of these bast***s. They should be fired and be put in jail for kicking Sarge. I hope Sarge is ok now. I thank you for your service and that of Sarge. We are NOT all like those sorry POS airline employees. A lot of us thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your sacrifices, in more ways than one, that you have edured for your country and your fellow servicemen and women.

The slogan of United Airlines used to be be "Fly the friendly skies". Not so much anymore.

This is how United Airlines treats our Veterans and our service dogs? This is what business as usual has been reduced to at our airlines?
Service industries cannot insult their clients and mistreat or abuse service animals or any sentient beings while utilizing their services. What would the CEO do if this happened to his son, daughter, grandchild or family member? I would bet you not nothing.

There are alot of people that need jobs out there. Get rid of the ones that are not suited to this sort of work (or put them in positions that don't work directly with people and animals) and hire others that are.

Thanks Cher....shared and tweeted....this was very disrespectful to this man and his dog. United Air Lines should do something about there employees on the ground. If they can't do there job and treat people decent, they shouldn't be there. This man and his dog did not deserve to be treated like this. The employees that kicked his dog, should be fired, along with the man at the ticket counter, for asking him if he was retarded. Jim Stanek is a hero for serving his country and his dog is a service dog and should have been treated with respect and not abuse. need to make things right with this man and his dog. This was cruel and inhumane the way they where treated and it should never happen again, to them or anybody else. They are lucky that he stayed as calm as he did. Having a brain injury and PTSD, he needed his medication and these people at United brush him off. Not right. I hope that they lose there jobs for treating this man and his dog so inhumane. Jim Stanek and are both hero's in my book. God Bless you both!!!!!!!!!

There is no excuse for behaviour like this, people should not have to explain their disabilities to receive a little bit of consideration, as for kicking the dog..... if it were mine, I would have snapped their necks - which held up their 'retarded' heads - like a twig!

Teresa Cowley (274)

No person has the right to kick an animal--especially not a service animal.
Further, no person should be treated with disrespect the way Mr. Stanek was--especially since he recieved his injuries fighting for the freedoms of idiots like the one who asked if he was "retarded"!!-How dare he? The person should quickly lose his job over that one!!
To my min, all the individuals at fault (for the 2 kicking incidences and the verbal abuse) need to be fired--and United Airlines should have to pay a hefty donation to Paws and Stripes to show just how sorry they really are!
Thanks Cher.
