Dog lovers across the political spectrum have been barking mad all election season over the now-infamous tale of Mitt Romney's family road trip with his Irish Setter, Seamus, strapped to the roof of his car.

Yeah, isn't Mitt a great guy!!!!!! AND, he gets away with it because he is rich! The dog is, unfortunately, deceased. Mitt should not be able to own anymore animals or pets - except Dollie Doormat, his wife, or at least one of them!

I read/heard that Shamus 'loves the feel of wind in his face.' Yeah, right. If he loved the feel of wind in his face they could've opened a window and allowed Shamus to ride INSIDE the car. Sheeesh!! What part of you-shouldn't-strap-your-beloved-dog-in-a-cage-to-the-top-of-the-car dosen't Mitt understand!? Idiot! And now poor Shamus is dead? Thnx Cher.

Shared. Thank you! Doesn't anyone know Romney has enough money to have a chaufeur drive the dog in a sedan? Ok the dog doesn't have to go in a stretch with a bar!

Any man who treats his dog like this need not be President of the US or anything. Wind in face, indeed! Romney, like all filthy rich, can always buy another dog, but after this would anyone be foolish enough to allow him to have one? He had no right to treat any animal as this & I am totally appalled that no officer of the law did not pull him over, take the dog away & make this jerk face animal cruelty charges plus a fine & some jail time...

I think Seamus, if still had been alive, would need to find another human who would take better care of him... What a horrid, horrid man...

This really shows a complete lack of compassion for any sentient being. Can't imagine someone like that as a president of the U.S. His wife must be the same way if she didn't speak up. Too bad the Ontario Provincial Police didn't catch him.

Romney should have spent some time in jail for what he did to poor Seamus and his wife was also an accomplice in this outright cruelty! What he did was against the law in the the states he drove through as well as in Ontario. Itís a shame that poor Seamus had to suffer such cruelty and that Mr. Romney got away with this. I also heard that once they got to Ontario, the dog ran away never to be seen again! No wonder. Mr. Romney is apparently devoid of compassion whether it was his dog or his employees at Bain Capital, so many were fired not only because of his desire to amass great wealth at the expense of others but also because of his inability to empathize with others. No, I donít think Mitt Romney is presidential material!
