National Gepgrap aired a show depicting such so called cultural practices. I must say what I found most disturbing was how these people kept saying that the killing of animals was a cultural thing, yet many of the people who were particapating were westernized. Cell phones, clothes and cars. To me these practices should nolonger be accepted in society, even under the "so call umbrella of culture".
Gladly signed

The time has come for outlandish displays of inhumane savagery in the name
of religion to end. The modern world rules this destruction wasteful, demeaning and unacceptable. Nepal and the same must move up from their antiquated traditions or be left in a lawless barbaric future with only themselves to blame.

Milkah said it all " yet many of the people who were particapating were westernized. Cell phones, clothes and cars. To me these practices should nolonger be accepted in society, even under the "so call umbrella of culture" ". And I agree with Ann, that our cultural tradition has become one of eating meat and animal products, nevertheless, I have the same thought about it as I do with this one.

Signed. I too would love to see an end to all animal slaughter. Let's face it - just as the slaughter of "food" for Westerners is for food, so is this. The biggest difference is that this ritual is visible and public.

Cultural rituals should only be a measuring rod to see how far the people have advanced from savagery and superstition. Still way too many barbaric, primitive, ignorant nations allowed to practice their "culture"

Signed but with reservations. I am loathe to ask a government, especially a less than friendly one,to interfere in a indigenous religion. The Christians with their ritualized cannibalism seem to regard all native practices as barbaric, this one is, but I dislike the precedent

Will this do ANY good? Remember.....it's their "religion" and millions of Americans would scream like mashed CATS if some Nepalese petition demanded that we stop eating chickens! What do you think Muslims would do if keffir petitions demanded that they stop their ritualized slaughter? (They'd probably start another JIHAD!)

Think about it.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again:

THE PLACE TO HIT COUNTRIES LIKE THIS IS IN THE WALLET! NEPAL DOES A HEALTHY ECO-TOURIST BUSINESS!N SEND ANGRY EMAILS TO THEIR TOURIST BUREAUS AND CULTURAL MINISTRY AND THIS ALL MIGHT GO SOMEWHERE.

The interesting thing about it is the heads of countries like Nepal are educated, worldly men. They speak with crisp, English affectations of politics and culture....many of them were educated here in the U.S. or in Europe. They are cultured individuals. They themselves would never stoop this low. It's a matter of letting the villagers do what they want to so the votes keep filing in. It's corrupt, and it works.

Countries start backing down when money is involved. Tourist boycotts do work. I'm not sure about petitions any more, but of course I signed. So ungodly I'm speechless.
