NEVER believe anything the military tells you. I was stationed there in 1979 for "A" school. Fortunately it was for 3 weeks.

Make the Navy clean it up just like Hunter's Point in San Francisco where the Navy left toxic waste for the poor residents to live with. Nice job Navy. Clean up your toxic waste.

I recall that little sinking island in the Bay, I was at Mare Island in 1975, and they were still telling the stories about the 'missing' Chillwater Plant on TI and the 'Mare Island Mud Puppy' USS Guitarro SSN665 the shipyard sunk next to the pier! What a pit...
