We need to know more about this one, Cher. Are the alligators becoming too numerous? Because, if so, they'll devastate other species.

Why not find out what's behind the proposal to allow some hunting?

Signed. Alligators deserve to live too even though there might be too many of them. There are too many people but we dont hunt them and kill them. A refuge should be for what the name stands for. I couldnt be married to a guy that hunts, glad mine doesnt.

Wildlife refuge -doesn't that mean they are being protected from the very ones they are now considering letting in to slaughter them?-something wrong there.

For every action there is a reaction. According to the law of karma, if we cause

pain and suffering to other living beings, we must endure pain and suffering in

return, both individually and collectively. We reap what we sow, in this life and

the next, for nature has her own justice. No one can escape the law of karma.

"The U.S. Fish and and Wildlife officials are contemplating allowing alligator hunting in a wildlife refuge.

The Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge a delicate and threatened ecosystem in the northernmost part of the Everglades in Florida- where the alligator is a keystone species of the park.

Once before, the alligator was hunted to near extinction. It was listed as an endangered species in 1967 under a law that preceded the Endangered Species Act of 1973, and removed from the list of endangered species in 1987 when populations improved. A wildlife refuge may have been one of the reasons the alligator was able to rebound."

why would they allow such a thing? is there an overpopulation or something? they could relocate some elsewhere if that's the case. killing them is not the answer.

Noted, signed and twittered. It blows my mind that these refuges are created to protect a delicate ecosystem only to turn around and allow the hunting of one of the species being granted sanctuary. I am so angry with the absolute stupidity of those who have the power to protect and instead use their power to destroy. We are in critical danger of losing everything that makes this planet the incredible gift that it was meant to be for all creatures, not just the humans who supposedly have the ability of reason. I think a huge mistake was made when certain elements of the human race were given the ability to think and make choices as clearly they do not possess the ethics, moral compass or compassion to protect rather than destroy!

Why is killing, the first response to a perceived wildlife problem? The war on nature that Federal, State and local goverments wage on nature must end now.
