With what these soldiers are going through, psychologically, emotionally, reaching out to defenseless animals commonly happens.Saving a life becomes emotionally important.

I think Allan is right. These soldiers have so many horrible memories from their tours, but they can hold on to a memory like this too.

Gratefully noted. It is such a pleasure to read a heartwarming story in the midst of all the ugliness that surrounds us daily. I do hope Nala is able to come home to the U.S. and find a forever loving home. What a little beauty.
