Better yet, isn't it time we changed our thinking to use less water and safer sewage systems? A community composting system is something to think about. (signed)

A few years back, I went scuba diving at a state park in the Florida keys. When you dive, you expect to see fish, underwater fauna. Well. no fish anywhere around. The coral was white. White coral means it's dead. While parking the car earlier, I remember seeing a sign carrying an water advisory. Apparently, the state park authorities knew of water quality fluctuations.

My guess is the coral died from sewage exposure.

And when the coral dies, there goes the food chain. The fish don't hang around if there's no food.

It isn't just Florida. It is the entire country. Sewage systems are meant to last 40 to 50 years, ours are all much older than that. Breaks and eruptions are occurring multiple times every day all over the country. We need rebuild our entire aging infrastructure including our electrical grid, but can't do so with no politician willing to look further down the road than the next election. We at one time had statespeople who were willing to look far into the future and spend to meet the needs of that future. I don't know where they've all gone but they are certainly absent in this generation of politicians. People capable only of putting their finger in the dike from time to time rather than rebuilding it when it is imperative to do so. And that time is now.
