Noted, signed and here is the comment I sent:

Puppy mills only profit the breeders. The general public has no idea of the conditions so many of these puppies are born into. The cruelty with which the mothers are treated is horrifying, many are ill or diseased, and the puppies are often born with illnesses and defects that are not disclosed to the buying public. With so many animals available in shelters and being euthanized due to overcrowding, there should be no need for puppy mills or even pet stores for that matter. There are far too many available, adoptable dogs and puppies as well as other animals just waiting for a forever home. If puppy mills and pet stores are no longer an option for people to go to, we could help solve the issue of so many dogs and cats that are crammed into shelters and solve the problem of homeless animals to a certain degree. I am respectfully asking that the federal Animal Welfare Act strengthen their laws and close the loophole that has allowed puppy mills to continue with their operations. Out of compassion comes strength.
