November 2012. There are only 55 céphalorhynques Maui in the world. One Voice is mobilized from Nabu International and other organizations to put pressure on New Zealand so it does not let these wonderful cetaceans disappear.

The rarest of all dolphins
New Zealand is home to a unique species that live nowhere else. The céphalorhynque Maui is the smallest and the most rarest of all dolphins.
swim yet only 55 adults in New Zealand waters against nearly a thousand there half a century. His cousin, Hector céphalorhynque is also threatened with a population from 30 000 individuals in the 1970s to less than 7,000 today.

Nets responsible for the decline of dolphins
The cause of this decline is to be sought in fishing methods and the thousands of nets drift in which dolphins become entangled and drown.
Approximately 5 céphalorhynques Maui die each year in these nets.
Yet there are only 20 adult females. Knowing that they give birth to young that every 2-4 years, if you do not act quickly to protect the species will join the long list of extinct species and we humans will be solely responsible for this terrible loss.

Before it is too late!
A race against time is committed to save the dolphins. Because tomorrow will be too late. The only solution is to expand the marine sanctuary , and much too small to ban driftnets and trawls to a depth of 100 meters in the range of these two dolphins if we want to save them. A motion was made in this direction by IUCN in September. Only New Zealand, a total of 117 governments voted against. But all scientists agree ... You can not ignore their recommendations!

One Voice joins NABU International, IUCN and IWC to ask New Zealand to take responsibility and to take immediate protective measures against céphalorhynque Maui and Hector.
do not leave our children a legacy of private land these two fabulous cash!

Opening a public consultation
Public consultation was opened by the New Zealand government, and until November 22. One Voice is mobilized for these two species of dolphins do not disappear. You too can be sending the letter signed - download here - to:

The ministers Mr David Carter: @ david.carter
Mme la ministre Kate Wilkinson: @ kate.wilkinson

Noted. I have composed a letter and sent it via mail to the addresses provided. Although this is in the nick of time, there remains hope that, if an urgent action is taken to protect this species, they may still be saved. I hope this receives enough due attention. They are so unique and cannot be substituted, so it would be a great loss, and I would be very saddened to hear they have gone. This must not happen! I pray for the survival of these "little" wonders!
