Instead of hacking off plant stems in the Fall I leave the seed pods intact for birds and other things to eat during the Winter. I also planted a dwarf apple tree for the birds. Not only do they love eating the 'apple sauce' berries during the late Fall and Winter but they also love eating the blossoms in the Spring.

Thanks Cher. Beautiful photos. My English husband told me British birds are all drab and boring (he's not a birder, but I am) so I told him to come look at the beautiful blue and yellow birds (assuming the photo is of birds in England). Does anyone know what they are? I live in Florida and feed birds (and squirrels, and who knows what else) year 'round. We get some migratory birds that spend the winters here, such as pine warblers that come to feeders for sunflower seeds.

today, I was taking a beak at work, where I go outside, for freshair and "mind reset"-"think-tank"..huge downpours of rain here in Seattle/Tacoma today..so I take a piece of (what I am recycling!) plastic bag and go sit on the steps going to the top of our building, usually protected from the elements!..ere in the Pacific N.W., WE HAVE SIDEWAYS RAIN!!....THE WIND and traffic makes the rain go sideways, also called horizontal rain!!..and , Oh, Yeah!!today was a "sideways day"!!!..and most Washingtonians, would rather it was still Sunday, and a "horizontal day", in cozy beds at home..but a work day (if you are lucky!)!!!...a go find a job day!!!(guaranteed if you show up for an interview, YOU HAVE ..NO!!!..HAIRDO!!YOU LOOK LIKE CRAP AND A DROWNED RAT!!..that resume must be good..and YOU will know if the "Boss" you are interviewing with has a braincell or just another "yahoo!"...YOU JUST SHOWED FORTITUDE AND NO MATER WHAT, YOU CAN BE COUNTED ON...(you should see what happens to Seattle with 1/4" of snow!!!)...I always show up, why I am usually hired as management., or promoted!!..when working for people with braincells!!!...........THIS YEAR, NO MATTER WHERE YOU LIVE, TAKE CARE OF YOU, YOUR FAMILY, YOUR HOME, YOUR YARD AND YOUR COMMUNITY!!....IT WILL TAKE ALL!! GLOBAL WARMING IS REAL....WE MUST BE REAL!!
