It's fascinating how the concluding remarks of Lincoln's Annual Message to Congress of December 1, 1862 (quoted in "A Lincoln Portrait" by Aaron Copland, and here I have removed from the last paragraph only the specific references to emancipation) would apply equally well to our current situation with climate change:

"Fellow-citizens, we cannot escape history. We of this Congress and this administration, will be remembered in spite of ourselves. No personal significance, or insignificance, can spare one or another of us. The fiery trial through which we pass, will light us down, in honor or dishonor, to the latest generation. ... We -- even we here -- hold the power, and bear the responsibility. ... We shall nobly save, or meanly lose, the last best hope of earth. Other means may succeed; this could not fail. The way is plain, peaceful, generous, just -- a way which, if followed, the world will forever applaud, and God must forever bless."

Now if we could only convince the President and Congress that their reputations are personally on the line, which indeed they are!

President Obama is doing his best to help the environment. Of course, he can only do so much, without the assistance of Congress.
I truly, believe that he has the nation's best interests at heart, and, we must stick by him and support his efforts.

Our polar bears need assistance. We, humans, must believe that all species should be preserved and protected, to the best of our ability. What other purpose do we have on this Earth?

Also reading more and more evidence of the facts that people are following highly edited texts that are a disgrace to the true teachings of all masters, who all were adamant that killing beings is never allowable or acceptable.
