Cher

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently determined that palm oil should not be included in the Renewable Fuel Standard, because palm oil causes the most pollution due to the clearing and burning dense rainforests,

Signed and noted. Thanks Cher. The palm oil in your food and personal care products is directly tied to the destruction of the rainforests and the loss of habitat for beings that live there.

Read the ingredients before you buy and stop contributing to this slaughter.

One of the reasons I quit using Jordan's cereal was due to their insistence on utilizing palm oil. There are many things that this firm does that are commendable but their use of palm oil isn't one of them. They insist that they will only buy from legally registered palm oil tracts. Who determines what is legal? Does that mean that they will only buy from those tracts that were converted from another crop already in existence? Many of these tracts and estates were recently hewn from rainforests and older tree sites prior to the local governments introducing legislation last year to stop this practice. I have not had a reply from Jordan's regarding this which indicates to me complicity and evasion regarding palm oil supply. Dorset is the only commercial cereal I have found that doesn't use palm oil. Now I will have to check to see the contents of their dried fruits.

I always read the labels on my food and toiletries, so that no palm oil ever gets bought by me.
However, using it for fuel - that's rape of the rain-forests increased to the status of premeditated, willful and violent murder!
I doubt that there is even one Orangutan that is less worthy of respect and worse in its nature than the people who do this.
Every time I see an image of these wonderful creatures I fall in love. One can see their good nature shining out of their handsome faces.

Signed and noted, we boycott any product that contains palm oil. I lived in Singapore for 5 years and on frequent trips to Malaysia we saw the devastation. Huge areas of rain forrests were deforrested to make room for oil palm, but the clearing of those huge areas were to big to handle. Before any oil palms could be planted the topsoil was washed away by the monsoon and we just saw clay and ruts 2-3 feet deep along hillsides, the hwy. was barely negotiable with large banks of soil obstructing the hwy. That was in the mid 1970ties. In those days there was no internet and we could not voice our concern, but we already knew things were very wrong. Now we have a voice thanks to internet and I must add care2 and its petitions.
Now we can SHOUT like hell to help save our home, the dying planet earth. Thanks care2 for your part.
