It seems like a very good idea; what's the downside?

Yes Renee, I agree that it's nothing more than a hankerchief- a disgusting item men carried aroundin their back pockets. They were used for decades.

If I'm outdoor and need to wash dirt off my hands in a stream or using wet grass, I just give them a shake and let them dry naturally in air, and to speed up the drying process I might, if my trouser legs are dry, dab them on my trouser legs first. This is what my cats usually do after trotting in from a wet garden, walk all over my trousers to dry their paws off.

Why not just create our own. We all have various types of towels that are created from various materials. We could just cut some of our older ones to a size that we could carry in our pocket, purses, backpacks, etc. No need to go broke buying all of these new so-called inventions.

That's what trousers are for! Better a washable handkerchief than wasting all that paper. I very much like the new high intensity but lower power usage dryers.

in japan, many public bathrooms do not have paper towels and you have to bring your own towel. they sell them at many stores and they look like little wash cloths. i found them great to use as a "sweat rag" on a hot day touring. the bad thing about reusing a towel is that i don't think most people wash their hands well and they're adding more germs to the towel and their hands every time they use it.
