One thing I learned over decades is that when cats are labeled as totally independent ...it's a myth as they are capable of having deep attachments to their owners.

Wow, what a lovely story, my friend. Thank you. I love cats. They treat you like you are their parent and the older they get, the closer they want to stay with you and for longer periods, even if just to be in the same room. If I leave one room to sit in another room, they come in there. I'm a rather petite person, and they no longer want to be on my lap, it just isn't big enough. But will allow me to hold them lengthwise with their head on my shoulder, or in my arms like a baby. lol. Yes, cats are quite the people.

All pet owners may have similar stories and each one so personal and loving. I would be lost without my furry friends and they are friends. Even when they insist on typing for me - like now! Trying to read a story, type a response and be slightly less than nuts while one cat is on your shoulders, another trying to type for you and another causing you to have to stretch to reach the key board, because the only place to sit is in your lap. Now that my friends is mutual love!

Its so true what Janice b says about cats having deep attachments to their owners, it happened with my Mother's kitty, when my mom passed away her kitty was so sad because he did not see anymore that he passed away 8 months later, what the vet told me was that he died of a broken heart.

I had a similar experience with my first cat. I grew up in a dog family and was in my mid 30's before I got my first cat. This cat taught me about the plight of animals and I have been fighting for animal rights and the environment ever since. This cat has changed my life forever.
