I've grown catnip for my kitty and she loves it. I have also gotten packaged catnip from Petco and then I put a little bit on a few of her toys and let her play as much as she wants. I don't let her overdo it, though.

We have it growing wild so the cats much ignore it unless they truly want a fix. The dry stuff in stores is a waste.
