Since last summer, when she emerged as an orphaned kitten who affectionately introduced herself to crews battling a major wildfire in Plumas County, Chips the bobcat has been diagnosed with an attitude problem. She's too nice for a bobcat.

With the right training, natural instinct takes over.

This little one knew what she needed to do to survive. Now she has to learn how to do something else to survive. It's heartbreaking to me that she has to learn to distrust and hate humans, but that is what has to be done for her own good. I pray that she is able to adapt and return to the wild.

I certainly hope she develops the skills and instinct necessary to her being released into the wild. Good luck Chip.

Such is the strange nature of the world... and the nature of all of us.... right or wrong.

I hope all 3 bobcats are released in a safe area and do well. I realize that she needed human contact to heal her wounds, but perhaps she got too much and the policy needs to be changed. She's probably very confused on what to do. That's like paper training a puppy and then take that away and train them to go outdoors. It's very confusing on what the animal gets praised for doing and then is punished for doing what it was trained to do months earlier.

She's magnificent! But I hope she'll survive in the wild.
