The world's largest meat company says it has withdrawn a lawsuit against environmental activist group Greenpeace and renewed a promise not to purchase cattle from restricted areas in Brazil.

I applaud Greenpeace for all of their challenging hard work and efforts. I too agree with Les, these companies will try to make a buck anyway they can and they have no conscience when it comes to deforestation. They got caught and that is the only reason for the lawsuit being dropped. It remains to be seen if they follow thru on their promises to monitor deforestation and abide by the statutes set forth regarding cattle farming on illegally deforested lands.

Thanks for sharing this great news Cher! Way to go Greenpeace! I suspect that actions by people like us at Care2 also played a part in adding to the pressure that resulted in IBS dropping this lawsuit and deciding not to purchase cattle from restricted areas in Brazil.
