Most people know the Persian and the Maine Coon. But we bet you're not familiar with these

I don't like seeing breeders mess around with creating new breeds or adding more cats, we need to focus on those already here and most in need of adoption and care. Those are some pretty cats.

Though i love all cat breeds and sure think these breeds pictured above are all hotties, but i do not want people coming up with anymore new cat breeds, please. There are millions of cats the globe over that are homeless or languishing in cages at the local shelter or worse being put down. Thanks.

Beautiful cats however I'm not in favor of breeding. There are so many cats out there that truly need us. Thank you.

Noted. Great breeds. But we NEED to focus on adoption and finding homes for the ones already here. I wish people would STOP breeding the cats. Thx Cher.

I agree Kit. "New" breeds of cats make as much sense as some of these bizarre dog mixed breeds that the ACC have been for years to get recognized.

I remember some stories from Dr. DoLittle. He always praises mixed breeds and stray/street dogs/cats over pure ones. Those mixed dogs are heroes in the stories. And there is a story in which DoLittle "created" a new breed of dog but it was in fact "mixed" puppies. Well, most are about dogs, not cats (the authour might have been a dog person rather than a cat person) but ever since I loved the books, I like mixed or mutt than "pure" breeds.

One of them is neither new nor produced by breeders - it's just new to us because it comes from an isolated island group. I for one don't like to see breeds, especially natural breeds, go extinct. But I don't know what the answer is.

I enjoyed reading the article and seeing the different cats. I too don't want to see any breeds become extinct, however... there sure are a lot of cats in the world......

I too agree with Penny C. especially that we don't need any more new breeds genetically made. Plus Beth-Ann's comment about how many are homeless and put to death. Sad issues that should make people think twice. Thanks Cher

ALREADY FAR TOOOO MANY KITTEHS, WHO ARE HOMELESS & SOME HAVE
GONE FERAL/WILD, B/C OF LIMITED, OR NO HUMAN AFFECTION, : WHY, OH
WHY, DO SOME HUMANS, HAVE TO TRY & CREATE/MAKE, EVEN MORE OF
THEM, TO BE BORN INTO A WORLD OF (FOR THEM) SUFFERING, :
FROM BEING THIRSTY, HUNGRY, :
CHASED & MAULED/KILLED BY DOGGEHS, :
RUN OVER & MAIMED/KILLED BY CARS , :
ABUSED/KILLED, BY SICK, SADISTIC, HUMANS, :
FIGHTING WITH OTHER KITTEHS, PICKING UP DISEASES, :
RARELY, LIVING LONGER THAN # 10 YRS OF AGE, :

THEN, THEY ALSO, ARE BAD 4 THE ENVIRONMENT, B/C, :
THEY CATCH & KILL, NATIVE WILDLIFE SPECIES & THEY HAVE
NO IDEA, WHICH ONES ARE THE ENDANGERED ONES !!!!!

I'M A KITTEH LOVIN LADY, I HAV # 4 OF MY OWN, WHO SHARE A CATTERY
& OUR HOUSE, BUT, ARE OTHERWISE CONFINED, : FROM VERY YOUNG,
THIS IS ALL THEY HAVE KNOWN & NOW, MY OLDEST TWO, WILL TURN,
# 15 & # 16 YRS, ON THEIR BIRTHDAYS THIS YR !!!!
THEY HAVE LOTS OF TOYS & SEVERAL CAT TREE SCRATCHERS, SPREAD
OUT AROUND THE HOUSE & CATTERY, : THEY HAPPILY COME IN & OUT,
THRU THE KITTEH FLAP, FROM CATTERY TO HOUSE, AT A TIME OF THEIR CHOOSING !!!

THEY WERE ALL DESEXED AT A YOUNG AGE, SO HAVE NEVER ADDED TO THE
OVERPOPULATION PROBLEM !!!

I PERSONALLY THINK IT'S DESPICABLE, TO CREATE EXTRA KITTEH BREEDS,
WHO HAVE PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS, LIKE THE **MUNCHKIN **, :
KITTEHS ARE MEANT TO CLIMB, JUMP, & RUN AROUND & HAVING SHORT
LEGS, INTERFERS WITH THOSE NATURAL ABILITIES !!!

SADLY, MONEY HAS A MUCH LOUDER VOICE, THAN ANY HUMAN COMMON SENSE,
COMPASSION, OR SIMPLY, " THE BEST KITTEH WELFARE POSSIBLE " !!!

The reality is money can buy any creature on the planet, for those of us who volunteer in animal rescue, our homes and shelters house the unwanted felines tossed aside like trash and thrown into the system because "her colors are not right" "we are having a baby" or my personal favorite I witness excessively...."the cat is old"... YES, these are actual reasons cats inundate shelters....please remember, it is our collective responsibility to care for those we have domesticated....SPAY and NEUTER your pets...and, yes I am yelling in CAPS....oh, by the way, people who throw out old cats are awaiting a big surprise because Karma my friends happens!

I love my Heinz 57 varieties kitties from shelters and from rescues. They have given me such love over the years that it's hard to put into words. Please spay and neuter your pets and please adopt from shelters and rescue organizations. The animals are forever grateful.

Beautiful but I hope those that are breeding these cats will be taking all the offspring back when those who bought them don't want them anymore. We have to stop people breeding cats when so many are euthanized every year because of too many cats. Over 70% of the cats in the shelter, don't make it out alive.
