It would be great to turn the tables but as long as you've got bad humans (and unfortunately there are more than ever) I can only see it getting worse. Attitudes of too many these days stink it's like going back in time only then killing animals was done for exhibits etc which was more through ignorance not greed!

The lower rate of extinction is hopeful, especially with all of the deforestation, global warming effects, etc. Heck, I still regret that I never got to see a dodo!

Too many people and too many corporations; receding habitats and yes we can for a time turn it around if we can get those in influential positions to comply and make necessary changes. Then there is the local indigenous factor. It's hard to be philanthropic or idealistic when you have kids to feed and your wage is almost subsistence. Viable opportunities need to be presented to them in order to substitute rainforest logging; overfishing and introducing crops such as palm oil.
Lastly, there is the cycle of nature which illustrates what happens to species that don't adapt - ask the dinosaurs.
