Civet cats are feline small predators that live mainly in Asia, Africa and Madagascar, feeding in addition to smaller animals, insects or worms also of nuts or the ripe, red coffee fruit - and that is their undoing. Schleichkatzenkot for coffee production when the Civet red the coffee fruit eating, he digested the flesh, not the bean. This can be fermented in the stomach. The eliminated fermented coffee beans are traded by some as a specialty coffee for several hundred euros per kilo. This has not, for the people, for example in Indonesia, developed a lucrative business. Because the legacy of Civet are no longer collected by hand in the forest.

Allan Y, if you research the civets (which are NOT cats), genets, linsangs, and their relatives, which are member of the Carnivora order and the Viverridae family, I am sure you will find them to be interesting animals. Occasionally I have lucky enough to see a genet on the "Pete's Pond" live webcam. They are beautiful animals.

Poor little creatures become extremely weak and debilitated from this diet and are subjected to physical and emotional abuses as well. In the wild, they will consume coffee berries {which is where people got this idea}, but they also consume a varied diet of vegetable and plant matter. They are not cats and in appearance resemble a kinkajou {another carnivore that loves to eat fruit}. A steady diet of coffee makes these animals very, very ill. There is no excuse for the torture and abuse of any living creature to please a gourmet palate, although how coffee beans passed through someone's intestine came to be an object of desire is beyond me.

Signed - there have been so many revolting stories today that I despair of people ever stopping the abuse of their fellow creatures. Only hope for animals is the extermination of humans.
