Contact the University of Wisconsin's IACUC (politely) to ask them not to allow the cruel and unethical maternal-deprivation of primates, as these tests bring the university into disrepute.

Spread the word—ask everyone associated with the University of Wisconsin to sign the pledge from Not In Our Name against this most horrific exploitation of baby monkeys.....

noted. Appaling. So disheartning what is done to these innocent docile monkeys. No animal should be used in any research, ever. Why can we not use human degenerates instead such as animal abusers, poachers and pedophiles???

Ty Cher ~ no words exist in any language for this. . .as it is not human. . .

“Unseen they suffer, unheard they cry, in agony they linger, in loneliness they die.” —Anonymous

“Think occasionally of the suffering of which you spare yourself the sight.” —Albert Schweitzer

“I abhor vivisection with my whole soul. All the scientific discoveries stained with innocent blood I count as of no consequence.” —Mohandas K. Gandhi

“I am not interested to know whether vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't….The pain which it inflicts upon unconsenting animals is the basis of my enmity toward it, and it is to me sufficient justification of the enmity without looking further.” —Mark Twain, American Author, 1835–1910

“I had bought two male chimps from a primate colony in Holland. They lived next to each other in separate cages for several months before I used one as a [heart] donor. When we put him to sleep in his cage in preparation for the operation, he chattered and cried incessantly. We attached no significance to this, but it must have made a great impression on his companion, for when we removed the body to the operating room, the other chimp wept bitterly and was inconsolable for days. The incident made a deep impression on me. I vowed never again to experiment with such sensitive creatures.” —Christiaan Barnard

"The indifference, callousness and contempt that so many people exhibit toward animals is evil first because it results in great suffering in animals, and second because it results in an incalculably great impoverishment of the human spirit. All education should be directed toward the refinement of the individual's sensibilities in relation not only to one's fellow humans everywhere, but to all things whatsoever." ―Ashley Montagu

I am horrified my alma mater, U of W,I has become known for animal abuse not science, and it is only done for money. They also have a cat lab where maniacal "experiments" are being done and then they kill the cats.

I was once proud of this university system, no longer.

Useless information, total torture for the animals. There 's no comparation to human reaction, humans would behave differently. These are baby monkeys being tortured by a self proclaimed hater of all animals. SOB scum bag.

Noted. I've commented on another article regarding behavioural science saying that I started my B.S. in Psych in the discipline and changed majors because of it. Reading this article, though, and seeing the photos brought a sickly sense of deja vu. I remember the man's name, I remember the specifics of the experiments...I didn't get the sense that the experiments have been continued to the present day when I read the article. I hope they haven't! They certainly made their mark years ago and no scientist can claim that they must be repeated again!
