Thank you for this great article Cher on the importance of the Boreal Forests. I do hope that the Govt. of Canada advances the Northwest Territory Protected Areas Strategy and nomination of Pimachiowin Aki as a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational and Scientific and Cultural Organization. Conservation efforts to protect the boreal forests must be supported by food advocates and the public to ensure food security for generations to come.The boreal forests have supported the aboriginals, and others there for centuries by supplementing their meat and fish with plant live - root vegetables etc and many types of berries.

Im doing research on land conservation, specifically preserving the boreal forest both in Canada and in Finland. Its great to find others interested. If you are interested in a hands on approach to conserving these wild areas please check out this site and if you like it share it with your friends!
