Humanity has acknowledged the power of the sun since prehistoric times, awed by the glowing orb whose presence creates day and whose absence plunges the world into darkness

I have been considering this for some time. I understand the return on the investment can happen within a 3-5 year window.

I feel that as more businesses and homeowners apply solar energy, the prices will come down. Even so people wold be saving after a period of a few years. A change has to be made to wind and solar as electricity is just not a safe bet if nuclear plants have anything to do with it.
Thanks for sharing Cher.

In the long run, after the initial outlay, the savings can be tremendous. We are looking into getting solar panels installed in our gym through a grant.

I have a friend who installed solar panels on his roof as well as a storage battery in his garage. He started seeing benefits during his first year. I live in a duplex which is subsidized through HUD. There's not much chance of the owner installing solar panels.

In the long run I'm certain it is worth it. Thank you.

this doesn't mention the toxins that are used in making the components.

I agree, solar energy is an amazing investment, and has numerous benefits. Cher outlines a lot of the important things to remember. Financially, this is a great place to get started: :)

I bought a solar system, but I will never ever break even. But the electricity and their billing companies are filling their pockets on it. Was a bad mistake, and it will get worse when our contract expires, they own it all. So that is how big coal and our Labor government works. Result is, I am going to pull the switch. I wanted to be green, paid for it and lost to Government and big coal which is selling subsidised coal to China. So, here I am, a pensioner trying to be green, only to be skrewed by big coal and inferior Labor government. Elections coming up soon. I will have my say and so will many if my pensioner friends. Skrew J.G. so called PM not for long.

Our solar investment paid for itself in 10 years and now the solar electric, heat and hot water are free from the sun. Last year I added more panels.
