Nietzsche said that we were all Hyperboreans. I'd say that if our culture were any more alienated from Nature, he'd have been better advised to call us all extraterrestrials.

And, almost magically, that little, insipid sense of self dissipates into the grander scheme of Nature."

Loved this article. So very true!

I would like to get back to the land. I have to be happy with my potted plants and my aquaponics system.

Good article. I too wish that we could go back to some of the old ways from the past which are more healthier and natural. Thanks Cher

Makes perfect sense but I do believe that this alienation is deliberately foisted upon us by multinational corporations, governments, and the church because without any reference to nature and the planet these organisations can more easily dupe us. It began 2000 years or more ago when the Holy Roman Empire ran rampage across the whole of Europe and forced the Pagans away from their affinity with nature.

An interrelationship between nature and ourselves could, on its own, right many of the wrongs of this one planet.

Two major problems: on one side, the "experts" with their intelligence have milked to the fullest what good plans were put forth in the beginning, now replaced by greed and power-grabs ... while on the other side are the disinterested, disconnected fast-trackers interested only in their innediate gratifications.

Those interested beings in the middle of these two polar opposites are dying. Sad.

Sad, but very true. We have distanced ourselves so much from reality it is not funny anymore. I just cannot see that changing, big industrie and the $'s rule. And we, are at their mercy. In the end we will all go the way, poor or rich, we will all leave planet earth empty handed.
