Unthinkable! Couple Caught Selling Hundreds of Dogs to Labs

The illegally purchased dogs came from shelters, the street, even "free to a good home" pet ads. What the hell?!

Not only do I feel sorry for the poor dogs but what about owners who now don't know, "Was that my dog?"

Interesting to note but if a person takes "Free to Good Home" pets, they can legally sell them to labs.

It is up to the person giving the pets away to check to make sure it really is a good home. In these cases I generally blame the people who gave their pets away to strangers in the first place.

This is me Myraida using husbands computer.
There are no exact number of animals being adopted or killed in shelters every year because it is not obligatory to inform about this and there is no follow up of the animals being adopted.
For smaller puppy mills/backyard breeders is not obligatory to be licensenced & they are not supervised either and, if not all labs are required to buy dogs from X specific provider, this could happen.
Of course I am not talking about what we prefer but about what seems to be facts. Exercise Welfare towards animals should be the norm and there should be a control of sheltered animals both alive and euthanized. Adopted (and all) dogs with owner must be licensed, registered & checked periodically to see if they are ok. But, things are getting harder and harder for them. As I always mention, puppy mill/backyard breeders unwanted, unsold animals, their "wastes" end in shelters. Dripping is non stop! We can see that Pit Bulls, Old, Big etc... die constantly while smaller breeds coming from puppy mills are the biggest survivors but now, what?, Pit Bull, Old etc... will keep dying (being Pit Bulls puppy mill products too in it's majority) and smaller that are beguining to die too caused by overbreeding could end dying in labs also? Difference is that smaller ones are a business for some and could become a business for others too! Don't need to mention that the situation for our pitties, big, old, common looking, all bull type, pregnant, etc.....will only become worse.
--- Seems that petitions will need or already need to show X amount of signatures from the population of state specifically to be given attention( which should make us think if a way to identify people, verify they are really from that state will be needed. Nothing strange when now petitions sent to central gov must have at least a million signatures).- This, if I didn't heard wrong on a live radio show three days ago. Theme was "Dogs shot by cops" - By the way, it was a very good show: ran smooth & was interesting and clarifying.---
The puppy mills offer is facilitating all this type of problems and the solution is not to license puppy mills but to stop breeding. There is an overbreeding situation everywhere and that way animals cannot be controled. It doesn't matter what we can think, when L.A decide to show only sheltered animals on pet shops and seems that they cannot help shelters anymore, it's because all this is costing too much to them. Shelters that did not used to give attention to cross posters/helpers are making outcries! States cannot keep helping shelters "IF" it's that they are helping because this a non stop drainage of money! Problem is that a WELFARE towards animals plan should be exercised but all over the nation so that it could give result to states, shelters, rescues, and animals. It is necessary for shelters to have the possibility to share work with shelters in other states to aleviate pressure as it comes.
Sadly, people is not asking for this exercise of welfare towards animals that is also compatible with the plan for a welfare towards people. It's called WELFARE-ONE HEALTH. People is not asking for a ban to puppy mills either, or for a NO KiIl nation so the present and future for animals is pretty dark right now. There are more than 1,000 puppy mills producing dogs that in it's majority will not be spayed or neutered because new owners will want them to make money too!!!!!!!!! So,there are the real homeless and real needy dying, and the smaller now beguining to die too and at risk to end in a lab. Not all shelters are run by states, some are private and animals are not given a follow up and the possibility for anyone to sell an animal is causing that business be good to some only, that states loose money & the control of the situation, could not recover and that animals be misused.

i am truly horrified. to all those involved in the swaps of dogs for money should be prosecuted to the max. is there a way of getting these poor babies back? i doubt it, but my heart hurts just thinking about it. humans such as these do not deserve to live. their actions show that they are monsters offering only pain and misery to innocent, beautiful animals. they will burn in hell. i just hope it is very soon. signed, cher. thank you.

This goes on much too frequently! There should have been a law passed years ago that made it illegal for any labs to by dogs from "class b" dealers or bunchers! This is why people should never give their dogs away for free or run ads "free to good homes!" You're basically giving your dog away to a medical research laboratory who can perform all kinds of terrible cruel experiments on them and in the end then they are killed! This couple got such light sentences for the gravity of the crime they committed- they should have been sentenced to 10 years each at the least! What monsters they are!

All us animals lovers know how we feel about these 2 selfish idiots using dogs for greed. I don't think we will ever know how many dogs they sold. Who are the research labs they sold them to?
They should be getting into trouble if they were using more dogs then they were suppose to. Who's going to tell on whom? Gee, they are all making money off of the poor defenseless dogs.
The two idiots were aloud to sell 24 dogs to lab(s) in a 1 year span. Hmm. The labs are aloud how many?
On Thursday, according to a story by, Floyd and Susan Martin pleaded guilty in federal court to illegally purchasing dogs to sell to research facilities. How many dogs? Hundreds of them. To what institutions? Big ones, like Johns Hopkins and Columbia University.

I am sure they are using dogs with microchips too! As long as they get the dogs! Something is not feeling right with me. The story is not giving enough info. I did not know until now that "bunchers" existed. Very sad. And in the U.S. I may do some researching on this. I am getting more upset by the second. Am I thinking to much? I tend to do that.

-I want to be a fly on a wall with a video camera... grrr

Another story showing how some people will do anything for money; no matter how much torture, physically and mentally, they inflicted on the poor victims, animals and humans, alike. I feel so very sad for the animals and their owners, if they weren't strays, and I'm utterly shocked the scum bags only got a slap on the wrist when they caused such misery! What about the institutions who made it possible for these criminals to get rich while breaking the law and inflicting so much pain?

Hope they get life in excuses...........this should serve as an example to other crimes involving animals........and labs should have to be required to find alternative methods of research, as we humans are not animals and these tests and painful experiments and torture on a daily basis are so unnecessary UNNECESSARY.........tanyaisa voice for the wolves.............tanyaisa wolf advocate
