I had 3 black cats (among other pets) in my lifetime...all shelter rescues.....they were wonderful.

I have two gorgeous BLACK kittens at home that are the light of my life!!! Such a ridiculous thing to still believe in an old wife's tail ;)

In the UK it is now white cats that are said to be unlucky - alhough of course they are not!

I want to note that the origin of black cats being thought of as unlucky came from religions that thought witches could turn into black cats to sneak around at night. Hundreds were caught and killed due to religion.

Ive always thought black cats are lucky if they cross in front of you
I love black cats and have never thought of them as unlucky They are just as adorable as any other cat Sounds like its education for people that is needed

Black, yellow, orange, grey, tortoise, calico...The colors only add to the wonderful magic of cats. Foolish old tales of Black Cats and luck are stupid as Werewolves. Cats bring luck those who love them.

Henri le Chat Noir did not bring bad luck to his humain, but instead several wonderful dubbed videos and a lot of fans. Thanks for reminding me - I need to go watch them all again.

We have little trouble adopting out black cats in my shelter; especially males. I don't know why, but they are the charmers of the shelter.
