The dog was locked in a kennel -- there was no need for poison. Terrible, terrible, terrible.

This calls for a taste of their own "medicine". This story reminded me of today's Care2 quote and I think it applies well to all living creatures.

"If chimpanzees have consciousness, if they are capable of abstractions, do they not have what until now has been described as `human rights'? How smart does a chimp have to be before killing him constitutes murder?"

- Carl Sagan, American author/scientist

He should have kept the dog out. Why lock him up. How is he to protect the house. Also being a police officer I would have an alarm system because with that job you might make some enemies and having possession of guns on hand.
When they want to rob you nothing will stand in their way and they will kill anything. What do you think these people have morals?

I agree with Terry V. My neighbor, who used to let her dog bark all day and night said that the dog was protecting her house, but it was shut up in a pen in the back yard. Any idiot could see that the dog wasn't getting out of the pen and couldn't protect her house as she imagined. When pointed out to her the mistake, she then let the dog have the run of the backyard, but still, it couldn't get in the house. Again, anyone could figure that out easy enough. As a police officer, this person should have taken more precautions as they warn the public to. I feel sorry for the dog. With camera's in the house and around the yard, they might have caught these low lifes.

There is something that does not make sense. How did the first dog get sick with the wife home? They BOTH went to the vet, and the house is robbed....Why did the wife also go to the vet? It doesn't add up.
Somebody knew the house was going to be empty. Did the robbers poison the dogs(one with the wife home). Did the cop poison the second dog, and allow his house to be robbed?
Am I missing something to this story?

This isn't mean, this is evil. And now they have guns. If someone has unsecured guns in their home, why don't they have burglar alarms? I feel terrible for this family and the loss of their furry family member.

So sorry for the loss of the lab. It is great to know the police dog will get better. My sympathies to the family for loosing one furry member of their family and were traumatized with a break-in.
Thanks Cher.

Probably some sort of gang entrance challenge. Cowardly revenge motive with an added kick of sadism. Some day these pos will share a cell with Bubba and no police or guard around to protect their sorry (and soon to be made real, real sore..ass)
