Subject: Please Stop Badger Cull

Dear Honorable Spelman,

I hear that farmers are being licensed to exterminate badgers in a misguided attempt to control bovine tuberculosis.

I am adamantly opposed to badger culling. As badger expert Dr. Rosie Woodroffe from the Institute of Zoology in London stated of the RBCT, the largest study ever undertaken of the effect of badger culling, as quoted in the Guardian, "I think it is scientifically among the worst options they could have chosen."The RBCT, which took place over a 10 year period up to 2007, concluded, badger culling can make no meaningful contribution to cattle TB control in Britain.

It is inhumane and unnecessary to take the lives of so may animals who aren't causing the problem in the first place! Badgers also play an important role in keeping mice and rat populations down- so they are friends to the farmer- not foe!

Sincerely,
Julia R.
