London Zoo's new £3.6m enclosure for its Sumatran tigers Jae Jae and Melati gives them five times more space than before - and heated rocks to lounge on. Take a look at how other zoos from around the world have used striking architecture to house their

Beautiful pictures and sketches - I still think animals are much happier in their own natural environment, protected from people.

Beautiful architecture! I'm sorry that the animals are in zoos, but they're certainly happier than in some of those older pictures.

Yes some Zoos do their best its just such a pity that humans are taking so much land that they cant stay in their natural habitat if this is the only way for some species to survive i guess they have to do it as long as they are not in cages and horrible conditions and backyard zoos

Noted thanks

It's sad that they only way to protect these beautiful cats is to have them in cages. I hate greedy, selfish humans.

Noted. The animals are stunning and the architecture is intriguing but I hate that they have to be put together in order to exist in relative safety. Thanks Cher.

Sadly, zoos need to exist - at least these have gone beyond the usual enclosures.

I'm with Tamara, but certanly beautiful picures! Pleased to find Berlin in there! :-.))
Here's more as we have 2 zoos-the other big one not being a zoo but an "animal park" (Tierpark Berlin)

Kit...endangered animals are zoo-born and have no concept of ''happiness in the wild."

Accredited zoos provide food, safety, mates, enrichment....all the thing animals find ''in the wild."

Proof of that is how readily they breed in conservation programs.

I understand that zoos have an important pupose, though I would rather see them in their natural habitat. Since mankind has pretty much made this impossible it is nice to see a zoo such as this. Thanks for sharing Cher!

Jae tiger photo is nice.Seems new outside Paris zoo will be large. with new concept, lot of space and sort of
natural surronding, zoo may be sustainable option for protection.
