Asia Pulp and Paper (APP) announced that it has ceased tropical forest clearance pending assessment of conservation values and carbon stocks. In effect, APP has accepted calls that WWF has been making on the company for many years.

Ever since this story broke, and even though it didn't concern my former brand, I buy only re-cycled paper goods.

I do use recycled paper, for most things. I loved sending post cards via email to thank the many Rangers that help keep our wildlife and forests safe.

APP is notorious for going back on their promises - see the latest problem with this agreement here:

Jumping the gun? Confusion over APP deforestation report

http://news.mongabay.com/2013/0329-app-afp.html

We need to keep pressure on APP to insure that they follow through this time!

The best way to be sure that our TP does not harm the rainforest is to use only recycled paper products - and the higher the "post consumer content" the better :)

There is NO reason to have bleached toilet paper. [Bleached TP is white.] The bleach ends up in the waterways causing more problems. Tell your grocer to promote unbleached paper products.

Even better is to not need toilet paper anymore: Get a Hand Held Bidet Sprayer. We're talking Green, Clean and Saving Green at the same time! With these you almost don't need toilet paper anymore just a small towel to dry off. Can be installed with no new plumbing or electric unlike bidet toilet seats, costs little and will save you money forever. www.bathroomsprayers.com
