I have commented on this before ,it seem's to be a trait that is common in American police to shoot dogs with no reason -don't they have training -or are they so woosi they shoot first and ask questions -later?it would be so heart breaking if they killed my dog just because -they didn't understand the dog's intention -where's their common sence?-if none -train them.

I am against shooting dogs period! But Colorado has it good, here in Los Angeles the cops shoot humans and animals without a reason! The poo poo in Los Angeles and nationwide have an additional gun called a "throw down" to cover their sorry arses when shooting humans. Dogs do not have a chance against the ignorant, stupid or sociopath cops. They really do NOT CARE. So hopefully the laws will be put into place and enforced.

Signed! It is important to note that most of these dogs were BARKING at the cops- not launching an assault! The cops could have used pepper spray/ mace, tasers, their batons, etc- they did not have to SHOOT the dogs!

Guess it is a power play these officers are on They want to shoot anything that moves and ask questions later but if they shoot a dog they "good buddies" will stand in their defense since it is only a dog I am afraid some of our police officers have this mind set we can get away with murder and some aren't right for this public service jog How many stories we hear of officers doing wrong with a shooting police brutality, etc so maybe we need to have them rehabilitated they need to answer for any killing even innocent animals it is too easy to have that kind of power and misuse it.

The number of non-threatening dogs killed by cops indicates they definitely need training in canine behavior. I was surprised when I first heard they were shooting harmless dogs, as it seems recognizing a threatening animal would be largely a matter of common sense. But then lots of cops need training to not get trigger-happy in any situation at all. Signed, shared and noted, thanks, Cher.

Noted and signed. Police officers need better training to deal with situations concerning dogs. Don't just shoot and ask questions later. It may be a lost pet, confused and agiteted in a strange environment, no need for a trigger happy officer to panic. There are other rescue organizations in place that can deal with a lost and confused dog much better, in our country the RSPSA is one of them.
