Isn't it sad the stumbling block is not product nor innovation, but cost to the consumer. People do want to use solar energy, the initial investment makes it out of reach for most people.

Kit I agree. I'm in the lucky position that last week i could place solar panels. No vacations for several years.

I hope this sways people who could afford solar energy to look at this product. The are much more attractive than solar panels.

Fabulous idea but quite costly for the average Joe.

Wonderful idea. We could learn a lot from Europe when it comes to solar energy.

Noted. We've talked about this since I was a pre-teen and I'm 55 now. Okay, guys, talk is cheap. A place called Pear Energy has offered to take over electric accounts by providing solar and wind energy. Don't know how they manage it, but it's a great idea.

Solar energy is a-coming.
It can't be stopped, no matter the efforts of the naysayers and Big Business. Admittedly, they are slowing the process, but they can't bring it to an end, thank heavens.

It's similar to any new science. There will always be people who don't their life to change, even if it is for the better. They are their own worst enemies.

They maybe easier to install because they may weigh less than the other pv panels.

The best day for Mother Earth will be the day that everyone is generating their own electricity in their home and driving an electric car that we plug into our home generator. We will still need some oil for some products but maybe that will be solved too with the invention of a new material that does not pollute. I hope to see that day but, at 74, not much chance. Hope most of you Care2 people get to see it along with my children, grandchildren and all humanity

I have been yearning for a solar system for years, but can't possibly afford it. I received an email today from GetUp, an Australian petition site. If you live in Oz, check this out - a pay-as-you-go system.

I haven't gone into the details of getting a quote yet, but it sounds good.

I can easily envision the majority of homes in the
country with something like these solar shingles.
What an impact it would have on the power grid
for all of us!

Interesring Article. Like any NEW thing, expensive to begin with and then comes down in price.

This is great! I hope our states get on board offering tax credits for installing solar shingles/panels. That would help make them more affordable and soon hopefully the more people that do it the more the price will decrease.
