This really is such a waste of human life. I'm disgusted and sad to see this happening in my own back yard.
Why can't we all just live and let live?
Thanks Cher.

I will try and say this politely and without blasting away via a rant of disgust and anger.
Tragic and senseless. Hate ....hate crimes ...It / they ...have been an all too common occurrences all of my life.... Unfortunately it and the crimes that go with it are being promote by extremist , more and more the last few years. . It's like the 50-60's all over again when it comes to this type of hate crime and those insane enough to follow through with them .. for whatever insaniTea/cowardly reasons their toxic minds come up...
Violence...it's what extremist promote in one way or another. It's their first thought as to how they plan to deal with differences.
I best stop here...but believe me , I could go on and on..it's all just that up close and personal to me.

I have friends on the list above me and that work side by side with me that are the most dedicated human beings and the best people in the world. This story hits me in the stomach, one of my own family has a partner that was stalked and brutally harmed in a hate crime. With the animals and the way we treat our own people, we are back in the dark ages. Evolve, someone, before Gaia tosses us all off like fleas

I daresay he does [deserve to die]. Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement.--J. R. R. Tolkien, 'The Fellowship of The Ring

I know people who are awful, and I read about stuff like this all the time, so you'd think I'd be used to it by now. But I truly cannot comprehend how someone could murder someone they don't even know.

That poor, poor soul. People are vicious about this sort of thing because they don't know the logistics behind it. You'd think in this day and age even ugly-thinking people would know better, but they don't, damn them. And don't pick exclusively on New York--this ignorance and hate is everywhere.

Cannot understand such depth of hatred......I know it is here and has been for some time....and seems to be getting more prevalent!!!! What have turned into as a society???? It shakes us, as a society, to our souls.......Tragic, horrible, disgusting, hateful...whatever adjective one uses,,does not come close to describing our feeling and what to do is even more elusive......

Heartbreaking. This so needs to change, the violence in this Country. We take one step forward in Human Rights and still we have people who want to bring us back to the Dark Ages, even if it means killing someone, who was simply being who they were born to be. I most certainly signed.

Note that this crazy person had easy access to a GUN.
If the perpetrator had not had access to such a weapon, then the attack, senseless as it was, might have ended up in the hospital but not been LETHAL.
Contrary to what the Gun Merchants of Death and their Apologists, the NRA, say, carrying a weapon would have done NOTHING to protect the innocent man, completely taken by surprise.

The rising tide of Violence that some people here are concerned about, has EVERYTHING to do with easy and, for all practical purposes, UNLIMITED access to all SORTS of weapons by just about every crazy, criminal and unstable person there is. Other countries think this is INSANE in U.S. Law, which it IS.

Actually, according to the most recent polls, attitudes towards LGBT people have been IMPROVING in the U.S., dramatically so.
But when the occasional crazy, totally out-of-control ARMED CRIMINAL freaks out, we will see more and more - and much more! - Gun Violence of a LETHAL sort, even if these ARMED and Bigoted Lunatics are few!
With universal Background Checks in place, would this Violence have happened in just this way?

I squarely placer BLAME on the NRA, the CORRUPT NRA Leadership {that pays no attention at all to what its MEMBERS want, which is sensible Gun Control}, and on America's CULT of Lethal Weaponry in the hands of EVERYONE, for this death and SO MANY OTHERS, and more such deaths STILL TO COME.

Please don't insult Neanderthals by comparing them to these POS's. Neanderthals are now believed to have been highly non-agressive and peace loving - which is why "Homo sapiens" prevailed (translation: beat the c**p out of them). Apparently pre-history, like history, is written by the winners.
