Deric Lostutter, the young man responsible for exposing how slow local authorities in the Steubenville, Ohio rape case were moving, and a potential cover up of the crime, is now facing a possible 10 years in prison— the rapists only 2 years. Stand with organizations like Ultra Violet and urge the U.S. Attorney and the Department of Justice to drop the charges.

Yes, of course, I signed.

What has happened to priorities????

The whistleblower is now more condemned than the crime committers and their conspirators?

It is BECAUSE of these inconsistencies in judicial treatment that people are increasingly turning to otherwise illegal methods to expose the real truth.

Thank you, Cher.

What this man did made him a hero to the victim. When did it become illegal to expose a crime? What they did to her was a crime and they should have gotten much more time than they did. If it is illegal for a citizen to hack, why is it not illegal for the government or its contractors to hack? Our Constitution says that ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL, doesn't that mean we are just as equal as the government?

It is things like this that make one wonder. We do some things so well and we do other things so poorly. This is one. An outcome like this should never be allowed and one would hope an appellate court would see that. But this is not a "crime" in any sense of the word. Not at all. Reason has to win, or it should, or what does that make us but drones ourselves?

He deserves 10 years. He is no hero but a cyber criminal who made a mess of an investigation. Had he not interfered who knows but he did and violated many laws. Now if he had published nude photos only would you be so inclined to "forgive "him i think not But every stalker out there both male and female would want a precedent to be made.

Absolutely Signed! This guy is indeed a hero. The only way to combat evil is to bring it out into the light so that everyone may see. I find it very telling that he would face a stiffer punishment for telling the truth than the rapists did.
Shows us where women rate in our current culture. At least this man tried to right an injustice. To me that is the definition of a hero.

Don't feed the troll. The law in most states, and I believe it is still true in Ohio, makes reporting abuse of a minor MANDATORY for anyone who has any knowledge of it. So why are they NOT going after the coach and the parents and the teammates who BROKE this law, and instead trying to railroad the one man who OBSERVED THE LAW. No offense to railroads which I dearly love, sorry.

In this case, the entire town pretty much was standing behind the rapists because they were high school football jocks and they were proud of the team. Sometimes, somebody needs to open a window to let the fresh air in.
