Millions of Americans have water purifiers tucked in their refrigerators to make their drinking water taste better and eliminate harmful contaminants. But not even the most advanced Brita filter can handle the latest infiltrator into U.S. drinking water

Oh c'mon! Didn't the energy companies backed by their political and financial allies tell you it was good for you and that there was no danger or health risk? You didn't believe them? I'm shocked! How could you doubt them? They wouldn't lie to you would they?

Noted. I can only hope that this report will have a great effect for support for a nationwide moratorium against fracking. This is absolutely what must be done. Although moratoriums have been successful in a couple states, this needs to go nationwide....immediately.

At this point, I am a huge fan of reverse osmosis. RO-filtered water is close in purity to distilled water and requires a whole lot less energy to produce, and the machinery is self-cleaning. Here's an informative comparison of distillation and RO:

http://reverse-osmosis.bafree.net/reverse-osmosis-and-distillation-compared.php

But this doesn't mean either distillation or RO will be safe for fracked water. I would incidentally bet that the cost to distill fracked water would outweigh the price of the oil extracted with fracking. I wish someone with the appropriate knowledge would compute that.
