The American Girl Doll company still sends out a significant number of catalogs per year despite innovations in online shopping. The catalogs add unnecessary waste to the environment, particularly since so many more environmentally friendly options are

I see so much wasted paper on everything, and in packaging. .you'd think we had endless forests.
Why don't They start using hemp paper, and have green fields instead of killing old growth forests

While were on this subject, I have complained to the organizations I contribute to about their sending out calenders, tote bags, pens, and address labels. How much of my money is going into the production of these unwanted items?

Signed and noted - I get catalogs every week from the same people and it gets really tiring, especially when they have to be forced into a tiny apt mailbox. Have asked to be removed from mailing list, so far only one has complied. Two others filled up my email on a daily basis - at least I could unsubscribe to those.

I really wish that any time one ordered on line from a company they would AUTOMATICALLY quit mailing out paper and send emails instead (and of course fewer of them too).

I don't begrudge the sanitation workers their work--I only wish there was no deluge of paper for them to stuff into the rapidly-dwindling and usually not-so-sanitary dumps. Our land is precious enough as it is; I've seen trees cut down to make way for--garbage dumps!

We need to find a better way to distribute catalog information that everyone will be able to receive--and not just those with the latest iPhone or tablet, either--that doesn't use precious resources--trees--and end up costing us space--landfills. No, I don't have a solution, at least not until someone develops the ability to beam information directly into people's minds (which would be an invasion of privacy, anyway), but distribution by email only, in PDF or JPG format, is a starting point. (Better yet, just let people come and ask for what they want, the way they did centuries ago. Hmm? You're right, that'll never catch on.)

"Think b4 U Ink" ,"Think b4 U Print". So many paperless ways of reaching your customers. Think of all the trees destroyed, disturbing the environment. Most of these catalogs end up in the bin, what a waste of time, money, products.

Noted and signed. All paper catalogs should be opt-in, not opt-out. Think of the enormous waste that would be prevented if most of the people who don't want a constant deluge of these catalogs didn't get them. While I hate it when spam and junk emails fill up my email inbox, it's better than having paper catalogs piling up in my house. With a few clicks, the emails are gone, but the paper catalogs just keep piling up and you have to throw them out or recycle them, if recycling is available where you live. And sometimes it isn't available where you live.
