After causing a devastating oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, British Petroleum (BP) was ordered to put money into a settlement fund for those affected by the incident. However, BP has repeatedly tried to weasel out of the settlement by making

They could pay the settlement amount, not just once, but every year, in perpetuity, and still not have provided enough compensation. How much are lives worth? Evidently not much to BP.

The mere fact that BP is still in business is proof that they haven't been punished on a proper scale. Everything they own on a global scale should have been seized and all the corporate officers should be doing hard time at a supermax prison for life.

BP is the fifth highest REVENUE company in the WORLD! So unfortunately they can buy ALL the professional expertise in the world to try and convince us how they have contained and cleaned their "accident" which of course is nothing but a crock of oil/crap! The damage done to the Gulf of Mexico is 100 times worse than the other "little" Exxon Valdez accident! Tony Hayward who was head of BP had the sheer gall to say after this monstrous destruction of oceanic, natural flora & fauna that he (tony Hayward) wanted to get his LIFE BACK! No respect for the 11 men killed during the explosion or the rest of the slow death of the GULF OF MEXICO. But hey it's just business, right? Do not forget Halliburton also had a lot to do with the explosion happening due to their defective equipment! Yes, Halliburton KNEW and still installed the DEFECTIVE parts! No matter how much BP pays it will NEVER, EVER be ENOUGH! But sadly the whole thing will be brushed under the rug and within 5 years most people will forget! Ultimately, that people will forget is as big a disaster as the accident! And oh wait till frucking/fracking goes into full swing, the Exxon Valdez and BP disaster will pale by comparison! Pessimistic, nope, just the daughter of a petroleum geologist.

Noted, signed and shared...I believe ALL oil industries should be made to sign a contract BEFORE they begin their operations anywhere and they MUST state "We guarantee to pay for any damage or threat to life, land and oceans, no matter what it costs, should there be any type of life threatening mishap during and after our operations".This would have to worded a bit better in legal language I guess but it must mean the same thing.

BP has all this money to spend on ads and lobbyists to get the "true" spin on this story. If they would just pay the damn payments and let the Earth heal, instead of continually assaulting her, we might get rid of their mess in a few hundred years.
BUT, hey, why complicate things with a silly, simple payment plan. Let's just ditch it all and call it done. That's what they think. People forget so fast, now days, hell, they will have forgotten it by the end of the year, cause BP and Halliburton have caused another disaster in more of our "pristine" wildernesses and we will never get those back either, IF WE DON'T STOP THEIR DESTRUCTION NOW!

And after doing this, they still expect the world to think they're a respectable, honest company, that cares for the welfare of comunities and environment...
Really, this is so ludicrous I don't know if I laugh or cry...
