That is outrageous. It sounds like someone working at the zoo may be responsible and that the zoo is in horrible condition. Maybe the person feels they have saved the animals from poor care. Nevertheless, I do hope they catch and punish the ones responsible.

This is horrific and very, very sad. I hope they find the culprits and give them just punishment. Thank you.

Zoo (every) is a prison. In a prison inmates are dying, from different reasons, poisoning is one of it.

QfA: " Hundreds of animals have died at Surabaya Zoo in recent years due to neglect, and those still alive languish in cramped, dirty cages and suffer from illnesses including pneumonia and diarrhoea."

Thank you Cher.

Even in the last place for safety failed them.

Some people's actions do make it very challenging not to hate all people. Connie, the zoo in terrible condition is the Surabaya Zoo. These deaths happened at the Taman Rimbo Zoo. Since one is in western Indonesia and the other in East Java province, it sounds like they are even at opposite ends of the country. That of course does not make Taman Rimbo perfect, but it at least is not Indonesia's worst zoo.

HOW ON EARTH could anybody do this ?? WHY ?? It's absolutely inconceiveble to me - totally disgusted !!

Small consolation ........... but, at least, one was saved .....................

Heart retching. I pray that the person who did this is punished severely both by man and God.

There's no end to this--it only grows worse and worse. My God in heaven the world has gone mad. Mankind is good for only one thing, and that's killing. Killing and raping. I don't think good men will ever do anything about things like this because the political pigs are in the way. I can say that about almost all situations.

Yes tragic and sad.

I am surprise to find that the 'animal catagory ' has run out of space for the many 'animal' stories that now occupy the 'off-beat' catagory. Someone really should contract the staff and see what can be done to make more room on the animal threads for them.

Too many animal stories are being over looked by many due to this 'incorrect catagory' problem I think.

This is beyond heartbreaking for these magnificent creatures. Hope they find the scum that did this and they get punished to the max for the murder of these amazing creatures.

Ruth S....which people? Are you suggesting that all Indonesians are awful? Are you suggesting that all zoos are awful? Are you suggesting that all zoo keepers are awful?

We should try to keep perspective here and stop jerking our knees.
