The district says the dog would be "a distraction, scare other children, and aggravate allergies."

I think her parents should talk to a lawyer because this sounds illegal as hell to me.

Get a lawyer, unless the school district is willing to pay a nurse t stay with her every minute she's on school property. There are too many variables and is the school really willing to take the chance of a lawsuit later on??

Playing both sides...yes, the school agreed to the dog. The reason for him I understand, yet, we have 4 diabetics in my school without a dog - they are all under the age of 6. They see the nurse 3x a day, and they each have a personal aid.

I think her parents should talk to a lawyer because this sounds illegal as hell to me.

Of course It's illegal to turn away a service dog...

I posted a petition for service dogs and diabetes in the news area here. I had never heard of it before I posted it. i'm so excited this girl has one but I am infuriated over the fact that they feel It was OK to turn them away.........Pissed off beyongd words and of course there's got to be a law suit pending here. There must be one for this.

PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION UNDER MY NAME IN THE NEWS AREA FOR THESE SERVICE DOGS. I can't believe I never heard of this before and it is needed so bad. I could use a service dog so bad for stopping me heading into comas and giving notice of low blood sugar that can kill.

TY Cher! I hope you wont be mad that I'm going to post the link to the petition for service dogs being trained to help diabtics. PLEASE email me if it upsets you for real.

So many do not understand how serious it is whe you get low blood sugar and what can happen to you. This school is insane . They are suppose to educate and could have used this as a great example to help educate all the students, teachers, faculty, etc...... ***Instead they pulled an uneducated and I'm sure illegal move.

I'm not even sure the family would have to put up a retainer for this kind of situation??!!

If the lawyer knows the law there and believes in the care or that there is a case, they may not charge a fee until it's won. This is actually a severe situation. You cannot just remove a service animal. Introduce the sitiation and the dog would most likely have a sign on it saying don't talk to me or touch me .I am in servicer. BUT this can be introduced to all students so they are aware and the allergy issue has never been good enough to stop service animals in the past.,

CARE2 PEOPLE,PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION I POSTED ABOVE.. COPY/PASTE -SORRY I DON'T KNOW HOW TO MAKE IT LINKABLE. PLEASE SIGN IT AND PASS IT AROUND,CROSS-POST,ETC.........

Again, cher let me know if i bothered you by posting the petition info.

Such shortsightedness, sad to see that some do not realize the benefits of these marvellous dogs.

What in the hell is wrong with the staff at this school? This child can only attend school because of her very special dog. Maybe this staff needs to start over in school. TY Cher Noted.

If someone needs a service dog nobody should turn them away...and in a first world country! I thought that maybe it was in some back of beyond place but its not..very strange..this is the second one in the last few days that ive heard of.

I also think that this is not legal, no way, how is possible that the staff of the school is doing something like this? But really???? :(((((
