Eulogy for Christopher

He grew up under conditions so bad that they haunted him the rest of his life. In his early life, he never learned how to play, he never felt love, he never had clean water or enough food or basic care. He never got to lie in the grass or take a walk.

Thank you so much for the eulogy foe Christopher.
What an endearing tribute, and touching.
I never heard a story of an a dog so traumatized and it was so very sad.
When I read "the lady was me" I was instantly tearful - I have to say.
What an understanding beautiful person to show such love to Christopher and give him something he never had, security and unconditional love and acceptance.
I won't forget this story, and the path not taken - bypassing poor frightened Christopher.

This is so poignant and moving and has such a beautiful message. We can help others to heal and doing so can help to heal ourselves. May we all take advantage of such opportunities because the need is all around.
Thank you Cher, as always, for posting this.

My throat hurts and the tears fall for all the lonely forgotten dogs like Christopher. What a lovely tribute this is to Christopher. God Bless them both- at the end both knew what LOVE is all about.

What a sad story and all the suffering probably took a few years off his life The suffering humans cause is unforgiveable

He was a very scared dog and with good reason. He was a lucky dog. He found a home with a human who did not beat him or make him stay in a cage. He was fed and kept dry and comfortable. True he was not able to be completely the dog he was meant to be, but he knew beneath it all, that he was safe and loved. He didn't have enough time, but what time he did have was wonderful.

Beautiful tribute. I could identify with this story as I had the same experience with a cat. For 14 years, we went through the same type of relationship that this person and her dog did and then the middle of July of this year, I came home from work, to find her dead. She was 15 years old when she passed. For 14 years, I tried so hard to be her friend and for her to trust and love someone, and for 15 years, she was terrified of humans, but if I needed to take her to the vet or to shave matts off of her, she would let me, and hiss at me, but not once did she ever attempt to bite me. God Bless and protect all the animals in the world and those that love and care for them. I imagine that my Shelby and your Christopher are at the rainbow bridge running and playing and waiting for us.

Christopher is one of the many and many poor creatures that pay the high price for the cruelty and brutality of some human beings.
