Jaguars are already one of the world's most endangered species, but one of the two cubs on display at Zacango Zoo in Mexico is even more rare because it is melanistic.

How sad is it that these jaguars will never know freedom....

Well, I'm glad a rare animal was born but I do so abhor the term 'display' when referring to animals.. IT is such an objectifying term. as if they are in a museum. Living beings should not be on display-seen, visited- but not on display or any other term that makes them into objects.

Terrible living conditions. I fear for these cubs. They are only interested in profit and not the animals.

Good news, bad news. Good they were born and will be safe from poachers. Bad they will be caged and displayed. Although if people, especially children, have a chance to see their beauty, maybe the big cats in the wild will be kept safe in the next generation...if there are any left in the wild.

They look so lost and forlorn. Thanks for the article.

Sad that jaguars are so endangered facing massive losses of their habitat. Yes, they will be safe from poachers but it is very sad that they cannot roam free in copious numbers in a safe environment.

Actually the sad reality is that to see some animals and the save their lives we have to go to the zoo :(
