16 year old Liz was walking home from her grandfather's funeral when she was ambushed by six men who took turns raping her and then threw her unconscious body down a 6-meter toilet pit. Their punishment? Police had them mow their station lawn,

Outrageous. The policemen involved should be prosecuted for dereliction of duty and dishonourably discharged from the service.

Rape is a horrible, brutalizing and degrading crime, and it can wreck lives, and legal sentencing should reflect this.

The police who decided their punishment should be repeatedly raped and thrown down a toilet pit so they can see how it feels. Apparently they think it would be a minor inconvenience!!!! S&N
I just don't know how a group of men could become such base creatures unworthy of life!

Now, let's ramp up the pressure for justice to ensure both the attackers and the police are held to account. Use the tools below to send a direct message to the officials in charge of the police and help ensure that one girl's horrific experience ends the culture of rape:

I cannot believe this was done to that poor girl and what a joke of a punishment. I hope something changes and they are charged correctly.I don't know that ,that will happen .But they need some laws here. I don't even know what to say because obviously the judge didn't care at all.

AVAAZ petition already signed.

Glad this is in Care2 news and getting attention.

What happened to Liz is unbelievable. The six men should be caught, tried in
court and receive a just sentence of no less than 10 years.. The police who did
nothing should be fired from their jobs and serve time in prison.

No woman, girl, anywhere, should ever be raped and tossed away like garbage.

ty, Cher.

Disgusting. The rapists and the police should have been thrown down the hole and a cover put on it. The poor child has suffered enough. Don't let selfish, self serving, egotistical, women hating thugs get away with it. Give the women a break and change the policy of mowing lawns to putting in jail forever.

How shocking that men can get away with this The police should be severely punished for a start and the men severely punished maybe like castration ! so they cant do it again

Ah yes, misogyny is alive and well. Carol d. You raise a pint I have often thought of being a woman who was also raped many years ago and also worked in a rape crisis center also many years ago and well, just being a woman. Castration. Sadly men don't necessarily need their penises to rape. They can also use objects which has been done. Will castration fix the situation and be a suitable punishment or will it make them angrier? Just a thought.
Anyway this "sentence" is a travesty and I am appalled that any judge would allow/uphold Just like if men got pregnant abortion would be legal so rape would be taken more seriously if men were raped (more). If they had to suffer the way women do this rape would be less of a joke.

The rapists have to be punished severely, but the POLICE must be punished heavier for their inappropriate react.
Will they do the same if women in their family are victim?

There are many male dominated countries where this is thought to be acceptable. One of the many reasons we in the West should be wary of unconditionally accepting 'multiculture' . Sure, let us embrace diversity, but the ground rules and parameters should be set in stone- especially the ones about female equality and protection.
