On Sunday, a new hen arrived and my world changed again. I am swimming languidly, luxuriously, in the warm sea of new love. I can't get her off of my mind, and I don't want to. I revel in her intelligent, sensitive gaze... her vibrance... her spunk.

I dont think we should be killing any creatures They are all sensitive to pain and intelligent Its only man that says they are stupid to make people think its ok to kill them as they are not the same as humans

Every life has a purpose. All animals are individuals and they have feelings and thoughts and they suffer the pain and the joy that we do. They are entitled and they deserve an opportunity to live. Thanks for being with these beautiful creatures. It's so hard to be with an animal when they die, but I make myself do it as they were always there for me, so I will be there for them to let them go with love into Gods hands.

Very heart warming students found a baby starling which barely had any down or feathers. We kept her in my classroom till she/he began to fly and "mark" student papers. Stanley then moved into my bathroom for several weeks. I would take him/her outside to get used to the outdoors. One day Stanley went over to my garden and another wild bird flew down to see her. All I had to do was to put my arm out and she would fly to my arm. This day not only did Stanley fly onto my arm but the other bird flew onto my arm to sit right by Stanley!! For a moment I felt like Saint Francis!, a few weeks later Stanley flew the coop. It was awesome to raise a bird from such a teeny tiny baby to helping him to learn to fly....birds are also wonderful gifts from God. I also believe that they connect with humans, as long as we take the time to allow them into our hearts!,
Thank you for sharing Enid's story but a bigger thanks for all that you did for her esp. In her time of grief,
Bless you and Enid!

I know a lady, who keeps chickens - they all have names, and personalities. She is always doing something to make their home in her garden more enjoyable for them, and notices, when things aren't quite right.
Thanks for sharing this story. Very humbling.
