When it comes to choosing the right vehicle, there are a number of options to pursue, but finding the right balance between what you want as a consumer and what is truly best for the environment can be a trickier endeavor.

I really have no choice in the matter ~ I need a gas 4WD. But my driving is extremely limited to the country (no electric plug-ins and steep mountain jeep trails) and pretty much just to work. All errands are done on a once-a-week trip.
Who wants to drive 50mi just for bread or milk??

Electric with solar powered electricity. Barbara is correct the choices for electric cars are still very limited and expensive. Though some people do make their own bread, and we take some pride in that.

Well, there are quite a few all electric cars today...

However, I'll stick to my 25-year old bicycle, that's what I can afford...

A bicycle IS a good option, Ben, although I'm more the TRICYCLE type, myself (and they do exist., for those of us who need more cargo space.) I'm hopeful to buy a Prius soon. They're EVERYWHERE here and NOBODY has had trouble with them. All those DIRE PREDICTIONS (wonder who was behind those, by the way?) have never come to pass.

A difficult decision to make, with living 20 km from the city, we need a car, but in retirement years it is not always affordable. Also I have yet to find out which is best for the frozen north country!
Thanks Cher.
