#10: Get a cat who likes to curl up in your lap and sleep with you at night.

I like Freya's cat tip ; ) That one always works to keep one cozy and warm...also space heaters were on the list and although they can be helpful for short periods in a pinch they are not always energy efficient. My father purchased one for us and our electric bill was much higher and we were not using it that long at a time, this model had an energy star on it! The increased cost of the electricity was not worth it, our bill was higher than if we would have just had a 24 hour constant temperature.

Live in third floor apt, no elevator. Go up and down the steps a few times to get mail, wash clothes, etc. - won't need to turn up heat. My favorite is a nice warm soaking bath with relaing music. Do wish we could have pets...they do keep a body warm, and give warm fuzzies, literally and figuratively.

Wear fluffy socks, snuggle with significant other and sip a hot beverage.

Useful information, thanks. Freyas cat tip works well, especially in conjunction with DEbi G's tip - even better when you have three snuggly cats! Another way to keep warm is to wear a warm hat, you lose a lot of heat through the top of your head. Please also keep an eye of elderly or disabled neighbours - it's a lot harder to keep warm if you can't move around much.

My doggie loves to snuggle up to me, and helps me keep warm! Have an oil heater (looks like an old radiator from the old days), of course has to plug in. I only use it when absolutely necessary - and that may be this afternoon as temperature was -38C including wind chill. Brrrrr.
Yes Sally S. our neighbors keep their eye on us!!!! I just cannot imagine what it must be like for the homeless people during the winter months, of which we have from Oct. to beginning of April.
Thank You Cher.
