I live in the UK where fracking is just getting underway, in fact today two major drilling sites were announced. We might be behind the US in fracking but I hope that we learn from the mistakes that have been made and don't simply allow ourselves to be blinded by the potential financial gain (incidentally, in the UK we are constantly being told how the US is benefiting from fracking, stories by Care 2 members living in the US tell a different tale).

The earth beneath our feet is not the neatly constructed layer cake illustrated in slick commercials. Things get stirred up down there, and voids are filled with enormous plumes of polluted materials. The "frackquake" is a very real phenomenon; only so much water can be forced back underground before ruptures occur.

Keep the pressure on! That Keystone vote is a cliff hanger and Maine has rejected it with City Council Peoples Initiatives to Ban thus far in action. In all its colors Oil/ Frack attacks, Tar Sands Man, Its going down hard and the fight must stay vigilant. Use your phones and connect within your states Capitals every day ring them off the hooks about all the bad things coming in all dark ways.
